PROPERTY, GENEALOGICAL AND OTHER RECORDS RESEARCH
Amazingly many records dating as far back as the seventeenth century survived the devastating wars that swept through Lithuania. Church, court and other records are available to researchers at various state, university and private archives. Our associates, professional archivists and historians have access to these records. They also have access to many archived material in the other East European countries, such as Poland, Belarus and Russia.
Genealogical, property and other research is a time consuming effort with no guaranty of success. Therefore, costs cannot be estimated ahead of time. Success depends on how much information is provided to start with. As a minimum, to begin genealogical search the full name, place of birth, religion and at least year of birth of the ancestor is essential.
Write to us or send e-mail to vaitas@vaitasassociates.com with all the available information for initial assessment of feasibility to conduct the desired research. If the research is deemed feasible, for a fixed fee per name, property, or event, a preliminary in-country records review will be initiated and a report of findings provided.
As most of the records prior to 1918 are in Russian, Polish, or old Russian, we can provide only the basic information contained in these documents and copies thereof. Full translation of documents can be arranged on negotiated terms.
